Dauntless Lyfe

I just got back from spending the weekend in Chicago, and I figured I’d do a quick recap.

The main reason for the trip was for a couple of my friends and me to go stalk the set of the film adaption of Veronica Roth’s young adult dystopian novel Divergent. On Saturday we got to see an elevated train set that they had built, and on Sunday we watched as hundreds of extras dressed in the clothing of the various factions stood in rows outside of a building with doorways displaying the names and symbols of the factions.

While we were there, we also engaged in some other Divergent-y activities, including riding the Navy Pier Ferris wheel. Check out how much I’m enjoying that.

Ferris wheel funRemember how I’m afraid of zip lines? That also applies to Ferris wheels.

Outside of the Divergent stuff, we also got caught on multiple occasions by the Chicago Memorial Day parade, went on a bus tour showcasing various movies shot in Chicago (during which I gloated about how I totally saw them shoot a scene for Transformers: Dark of the Moon while on vacation a couple years ago), ate at Ed Debevic’s, and saw Book of Mormon. After which we got to meet the actor who played Elder Cunningham, who also–you know–just so happens to be Ben Platt, who played Benji in Pitch Perfect.

All in all, it was a really great weekend, and I am now absolutely exhausted but satisfied. 🙂 Hope you also had a good Memorial Day!

    • Yeah, note the word “functioning.” They couldn’t rightly have people hanging out, shooting scenes on a working train platform, now could they? 😉

    • It was great! I think I almost passed out from hyperventilating at the Divergent set, when all the actors and extras were there. I’m so excited to watch it!!!
