NaNo Day 14: The Tale of the NaNoing Police Officer

Because I didn’t have any writing planned for today but less homework, again, than I was expecting, I decided to divide my goal of writing 3k words yesterday into a two day goal. (This was also spurred on by the fact that I’m at a sort of tricky scene I don’t know how to execute right now, so I’m just sort of slowly easing my way through it until I figured it out more.)

Meanwhile, while I was procrastinating from writing and homework alike last night, the following happened (taken from my Facebook page):

**********

So here I am, sitting in my room watching yesterday’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at 11:00 PM while I procrastinate from writing/homework, when somebody knocks on my door. I open it expecting it to be a friend–Nope. Campus police officer. Have a mini heart attack and wonder what in the world I could be in trouble for, seeing as I am probably the least rebellious college student in the history of U of M ever. Turns out he saw my white board about NaNoWriMo and just wanted to ask me how the month was going, because he’s competing too.

Him: I’m sorry, did I just wake you up? You seem flustered.
Me (out loud): Oh, no, I’m just watching TV.
Me (internally): DUDE, YOU’RE A COP. STANDING IN MY DOORWAY. I AM IN MY PAJAMAS. I DON’T CARE IF I HAVEN’T BROKEN A LAW IN MY LIFE, I. AM. GOING. TO BE. FLUSTERED.

Upside: I now know that cops can have deep, creative souls that need NaNoWriMo in order to feel fulfilled, too.

**********

I am not kidding when I say mini heart attack, because seriously, how often does a police officer knock on your door in the middle of the night for a good reason? (That’s right. I’m pretty sure this was the first time ever.)

I’m off to do homework.

day 14“You’re behind :(” <–Well thank you for reminding me. I didn’t notice. 😛
